FIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTION

DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The complete connection is made from a high quality bronze with polished ball bearing swivel connectors. It is intended for installation on the exteriors of buildings having standpipe and hose or sprinkler systems to enable the Fire Department to connect hose lines directly into the system to supplement existing water supplies.
The straight way design enables either one or two hose lines to be connected, as the bronze clapper will close on the unused inlet or position itself in the middle when both inlets are used.
The outlet connection has 4" N.P.T. threads and the connectors have 2 1/2" National Standard Hose Threads. Other hose threads may be obtained upon special order.
INSTALLATION
The Fire Department Connection must be installed according to current NFPA 13 and with the authority having jurisdiction.
The connection should always be installed with a wall plate, ball drip, and breakable caps or plugs.
WALL PLATE
The ball drip is an all brass connection with a screen to prevent plugging, and is intended for the use of draining the Fire Department Connection piping, between the connection and the check or control valve. (Sold separately)
Made from high quality, non-corrosive aluminium and painted red, the wall plate has a 4 5/8" of inside diameter and 1/4" thick, with raised lettering stating
AUTO. SPKR. FIRE DEPT. CONNECTION
BREAKABLE CAPSMade of non-corrosive aluminium or plastic, U-bolt connectors, breakable caps are intended for connection to the inlets of Fire Department Connections to prevent trash and other debris from plugging the connection. They are easily broken for quick removal by a sharp blow from a common hose spanner wrench.
1/2" BALL DRIPThe ball drip is an all brass connection with a screen to prevent plugging, and is intended for the use of draining the Fire Department Connection piping, between the connection and the check or control valve. (Sold separately)
